The Story of Chris Britton Handcrafted Rods

Chris Britton has enjoyed a long and successful career in the Australian tournament fishing scene.

Starting out over 30 years ago as a Junior on the northside of Brisbane, Chris learnt his craft in the popular club fishing scene targeting popular beach and estuary species through QLD and NSW. Starting first with the Arana Hills fishing Club, and later moving to the all conquering Victory Fishing Club, Chris tasted success at both club and state level with multiple QLD team titles, Club Championships and 3 individual bream shield titles.

From here, Chris transitioned into the fast growing ABT catch and release tournament circuit, spending 14 years on tour fishing tournaments in all of the east coast states and venues. The transition from bait and mono to lures and ultra light top end spinning outfits was seamless and over his career Chris collected 3 QLD Opens, 1 Super Series round win, a Runner up Australian title and dozens of team tournament wins.

These days, Chris has switched to the Bluewater Horizon chasing large fish on the offshore reef systems of SEQ. He loves fishing with his 3 boys and enjoys going back to his roots on bread and butter species.

Throughout his career, Chris has always had a fascination with rod design and performance. During his club fishing years, Chris custom built club rods professionally for a decade using the legendary Pacific Composites and Snyder blanks - many of his rods are still fishing today, 20 years on.

Chris takes a special interest in building rods that he fishes with and refines designs based on fieldwork - so you will see the range is based on his evolution as a fisherman, with retro glass models for bread and butter up to the top end Carbon Fibre blanks being used for lure casting and offshore today.

You can rest assured that any rod sold has already been fished and caught fish by the rod builder.
